National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is an initiative by MHRD formed to provide quality-based education to students and knowledge seekers across the world by teachers in top ranking institutions like IITs and IISc for free of cost. It provides video and web courses across 23 disciplines as certificated MOOC courses. The courses aids students in gaining better knowledge in the topics.

To connect more students across colleges into the initiative, NPTEL local chapters are established under the mentorship of a faculty member of the college, who would be acted as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) in the colleges.
NPTEL Local chapter of AKM Polytechnic College started functioning in the year 2021. The local chapter acts as a bridge between students and NPTEL by informing students about the upcoming courses, ensuring their full-fledged participation and reporting issues faced by students to NPTEL.
